Strategy & Operations Manager, Uber Direct
About the role
Uber Direct enables merchants to unlock last-mile delivery by tapping into Uber's expansive logistics network and marketplace. Delivering a high-quality, reliable experience is central to our value proposition—ensuring orders are fulfilled efficiently, consistently, and at scale. As a Strategy & Operations Manager on the team, you will help scale the business by driving continuous improvements (through both process and tech changes) and commercial velocity. You will work on operational improvements and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify growth initiatives in new and existing partnerships, as well as develop business cases for product improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Project Management: Identify, plan, and execute projects and root cause analyses to improve existing processes for Account Management, Sales, and customer programs.
- Data Analysis: Design, execute, and automate processes to run and optimize business performance and KPI gaps. Build analyses and dashboards to measure project success.
- Commercial Enablement: Create new processes to prioritize and evaluate partnership opportunities based on strategic and financial criteria. Develop resources to expand market adoption by clearly communicating merchant value with creativity to differentiate offerings.
- Operations Management: Collaborate with Account Management, Sales, and other teams to identify process inefficiencies, build solutions, and drive operational efficiency (e.g., centralizing repeatable processes, account strategy and growth, weekly performance reporting).
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as a cross-functional partner to teams working with Uber Direct (Account Management, Sales, Product, Partner Engineering, Finance).
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional work experience in a related field (start-up, operations, strategy, analytics, or tech).
- Strong data management skills in Excel/Google Sheets.
- SQL proficiency is required.
- Experience in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or Power BI).
- Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent project management skills with an ability to set up and manage processes and projects from the ground up.
- Experience in business case development and performance improvements by leveraging data and insights.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Account Management, and Customer Support teams.
- Ability to experiment and hustle to build quickly, identifying and evaluating solutions for short- and long-term operational problems.
- Data-driven decision-making mentality and sound business acumen through analytical thinking to assess process performance and financial viability.
- Clear communicator with the ability to synthesize information, highlight key points, and disseminate actionable insights.
- Comfort with ambiguity, unfazed by projects where all information is not always available and priorities may shift.
Pay
For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program and may be offered an equity award and other types of compensation.

Offices remain key to collaboration and Uber's culture. Unless approved for full remote work, employees must spend at least 50% of their time in-office. Some roles, like those at greenlight hubs, require full-time in-office presence.
