Strategy Consulting Intern - Summer 2027

This role is a full-time paid internship program spanning ten weeks from June through August 2027. Participation requires in-person attendance at your assigned location in the continental United States, in accordance with Capital One’s hybrid working model. At this time, Capital One will not sponsor new applicants for employment authorization or provide immigration-related support for this position.

About the Role

The Strategy Group has played a central role in transforming Capital One from a small startup in 1994 to one of the largest financial institutions in the country. The group is accountable to the founder/CEO and functions as an internal strategy consultancy, partnering with company leadership to solve the industry’s toughest challenges, determine where the company needs to win in the future, and develop delightful products and experiences for millions of customers.

Interns join existing 4-8 person Strategy Consulting teams supporting senior leaders across Capital One on critical business issues. Interns participate in Capital One’s larger Analyst Internship Program, which provides additional opportunities for experiential education, training, networking, interactions with senior leaders, and team bonding. Interns will be evaluated for a full-time position within Strategy Consulting, with start dates one year following the internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop world-class consulting skills to shape the direction of one of the largest companies in the U.S.
• Work collaboratively on small project teams, tackling company-defining strategic issues and directly partnering with the company’s CEO, senior executives, and their teams.
• Work alongside experienced consultants who provide hands-on coaching and feedback to rapidly grow your skills.
• Develop a deep understanding of technology, the financial services industry, and a variety of business functions.
• Advance critical thinking, problem solving, communication, influence, and leadership skills in a fast-paced, collaborative, and inclusive environment dedicated to professional development.
• Leverage the expertise of team members from diverse professional backgrounds, including management consulting, financial services, and entrepreneurship.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher with an expectation to complete your most recent full-time degree by August 2028 or earlier.
• Must be continuing in the same course of study following completion of the internship.

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.

• McLean, VA: $109,000 - $109,000 for Strategy Intern
