About the role

We are seeking a Strategy Analyst to join our Commercial Strategy & Analytics team at Cengage. This role will support pricing strategy, commercial analysis, and business insight generation across Cengage Group. Candidates should have a background in analytics, strategy, consulting, pricing, finance, business intelligence, commercial operations, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Support pricing strategy, commercial analysis, and business insight generation across Cengage Group.
  • Conduct competitive research and pricing analyses across various Cengage businesses.
  • Develop analyses and recommendations related to pricing optimization, commercial simplification, whitespace opportunities, and market positioning.
  • Execute pricing strategy initiatives through competitive price tracking, market monitoring, pricing diagnostics, and pricing data maintenance activities.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, communicating analytical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Translate data into actionable business insights and build and maintain analytical models, trackers, summaries, and presentations.
  • Support strategic analyses related to market opportunity, portfolio performance, customer adoption, and commercial effectiveness.
  • Contribute to executive-ready presentations and business reviews by helping synthesize findings into clear summaries, charts, and recommendations.
  • Participate in broader strategic and transformation projects as needed, including business reviews, market analyses, and commercial initiatives.

Requirements

This role requires a four-year college degree with high achievement and relevant experience in analytics, strategy, consulting, pricing, finance, business intelligence, commercial operations, or related analytical roles. Previous experience with Excel, SQL, Snowflake, and other analytical tools is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in pricing strategy, commercial analytics, market analysis, and strategic business problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions.
  • Interest in creatively leveraging AI (where applicable) to support analysis and research methods.
  • Demonstrated initiative, learning agility, and willingness to take ownership of work products and analyses.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and supporting projects with evolving business questions and priorities.

Skills

Pay

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.

Schedule

The role follows a hybrid onboarding approach before transitioning to a primarily remote schedule. During the first 3–6 months, candidates are expected to work on-site in Boston one day per week to support training, collaboration, and team integration. After onboarding is complete, the position becomes fully remote (work from home), with a monthly in-person team meeting in Boston to stay connected and aligned.
