About the Role

The Strategic Sourcing & Value Analysis Department is responsible for all sourcing activities related to products for UCI Health. We work closely with Procurement, Contracting, Supply Chain, clinicians, physicians, and leadership to strategize UCI Health business decisions to deliver best practices including clinical quality, cost, and outcomes. The incumbent is responsible for developing strategies that result in best-in-class strategic sourcing practices and supplier relationships. Identifies projects to apply sourcing and purchasing/procurement methodology to leverage annual purchase volume and rationalize the supplier base to ensure benefits/savings to the University. Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs; conduct buyer/market profiles; share marketplace trends; develop sourcing strategies; share best practices; and define acceptable service levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies for best-in-class strategic sourcing practices and supplier relationships.
• Identify projects to apply sourcing and purchasing/procurement methodology to leverage annual purchase volume.
• Rationalize the supplier base to ensure benefits/savings to the University.
• Partner with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs.
• Conduct buyer/market profiles and share marketplace trends.
• Develop sourcing strategies and share best practices.
• Define acceptable service levels.
• Perform complex analyses and sourcing assignments requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining optimal results.
• Manage high-level projects, including formulating strategies, developing processes, and identifying resources.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of previous experience, preferably in a hospital or a large complex healthcare system or equivalent University purchasing experience.
• Strong organizational, meeting facilitation, and decision-making skills.
• Strong listening and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to independently gather, organize, and perform analytical or sourcing assignments.
• Full knowledge of procurement and sourcing functions.
• Experience in supply chain management with a strong background in finance/decision support analytics.
• Ability to articulate documented savings and supporting detail.
• Expertise with MMIS applications/workflow (Premier, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.), e-commerce (e.g., GHX), GPO and local contracting, Procure-to-Pay, and other procurement, finance, and supply chain-related functions.
• Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel using formulas, pivot tables, and other advanced calculations.
• Ability to manage high-level projects with a high degree of autonomy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of strategic sourcing policies, practices, and systems.
• Thorough knowledge of healthcare sourcing commodity/product categories.
• Ability to read, interpret, develop, and negotiate terms and conditions of contracts.
