About the role

As a Strategic Planning & Operations Senior Manager, you will support the Obesity Therapeutic Area Leadership Team and partner closely with VPs and Global Development of Obesity to drive strategy, execution, and organizational performance. You’ll turn unstructured business issues into actionable plans, lead cross-functional initiatives, and develop communications and reports that inform leadership and staff. The role involves budget and resource planning, headcount tracking, talent management, process improvement, and representing the function across R&D and corporate functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic support to the Obesity Therapeutic Area Leadership Team and Global Development of Obesity, including goal setting, organizational planning, and project management.
- Generate reports, dashboards, and presentations such as Operating/Business Reviews, All-Staff presentations, and business performance reports.
- Develop and lead functional budget and resource planning, including validation and maintenance of resource algorithms and forecasting assessments.
- Oversee headcount tracking, new position approvals, and collaborate with HR on recruiting, onboarding, and talent management.
- Transform unstructured business issues into high-quality, impactful action plans and projects.
- Prepare and facilitate functional leadership and staff meetings, including agenda development, presentation creation, and external speaker engagement.
- Represent the function’s business strategy and partner with HR, Finance, Corporate Communications, and other functions to support goals.
- Lead or represent the function on process change and improvement initiatives and drive best practices with Global Development SP&Os and R&D functions.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree and 2 years of related experience in biopharma setting
- OR Master’s degree and 4 years of related experience in biopharma setting
- OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience in biopharma setting
- OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of related experience in biopharma setting
- OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of related experience in biopharma setting
Qualifications
- MBA, PhD, PharmD, or Master’s Degree with 10 years of work experience in lab sciences and biopharmaceutical industry, including at least 4 years in R&D with knowledge of clinical development, financial budgeting, and workforce strategies.
- Proven leader with experience leading cross-functional teams and organizational change initiatives, including business case development.
- Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with the ability to structure vaguely defined problems, scope solutions pragmatically, and execute effectively.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at different levels.
- Demonstrated organizational management experience, including developing and mentoring staff.
