Job Summary

The Strategy Execution, Alignment & Innovation Senior Manager supports enterprise strategy stewardship, innovation integration, cross-organizational alignment, strategic insight development, and execution coordination across IEEE. Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Strategy Execution & Alignment, this role serves as a strategic execution and integration partner, helping translate enterprise priorities, Board direction, presidential initiatives, innovation activities, and committee outputs into coordinated workstreams, actionable plans, and sustained organizational follow-through.

About the Role

This role combines strategic thinking, synthesis, enterprise coordination, and execution support. It helps connect external trends, organizational insights, foresight activities, governance discussions, and innovation initiatives into integrated planning and enterprise execution activities. The position supports development of strategic materials, framing discussions, environmental scanning, and synthesis activities that inform Board-level deliberation, committee work, and executive decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Translate enterprise strategic priorities, Board direction, and presidential initiatives into structured work plans, timelines, milestones, and coordinated execution activities.
  • Aid in aligning cross-organizational initiatives by identifying dependencies, overlaps, sequencing considerations, and execution risks across enterprise efforts.
  • Support alignment and coordination between enterprise strategy, innovation, and cross-organizational initiatives to strengthen enterprise execution and organizational learning.
  • Aid in connecting strategic planning, foresight activities, innovation efforts, and presidential priorities into integrated enterprise workstreams and decision-making processes.
  • Help identify pathways for transitioning innovation concepts and initiatives into sustainable enterprise execution structures.
  • Support enterprise strategic planning, refresh cycles, and long-range planning activities, including integration of organizational unit inputs into enterprise strategy discussions.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of enterprise execution frameworks, governance structures, accountability mechanisms, and operational rhythms supporting strategy implementation.
  • Support enterprise integration of presidential initiatives, innovation efforts, and cross-organizational priorities to ensure alignment with strategic direction, organizational readiness, and operational realities.
  • Aid in identifying dependencies, overlaps, and transition pathways needed to move strategic initiatives from concept development into sustainable execution structures across IEEE.
  • Provide strategic and operational support for Board-level, presidential, and enterprise committees related to strategy, alignment, innovation, and future-focused initiatives.
  • Develop agendas, framing materials, summaries, workplans, briefing materials, and follow-through mechanisms that support informed discussion and actionable outcomes.
  • Ensure committees operate as execution-oriented working bodies with clear deliverables, timelines, accountability structures, and coordinated follow-through.
  • Translate committee discussions, Board guidance, and strategic direction into integrated next steps and enterprise actions.
  • Support coordination and follow-through across strategy, innovation, and future-focused committees to improve visibility, reduce fragmentation, and strengthen enterprise alignment.
  • Support continuity of committee work and enterprise priorities across presidential cycles, leadership transitions, and evolving strategic direction.
  • Support environmental scanning, research synthesis, and development of strategic materials informing Board, committee, and executive discussions.
  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented summaries, presentations, dashboards, reports, and integrated updates for enterprise stakeholders.
  • Aid in connecting external trends, organizational performance insights, foresight activities, and operational considerations into enterprise planning discussions.
  • Maintain oversight of progress across assigned initiatives and workstreams, helping identify risks, gaps, dependencies, tradeoffs, and escalation needs.
  • Support enterprise reporting, dashboards, status updates, and performance tracking activities aligned to strategic priorities and enterprise goals.
  • Aid in sequencing and prioritization discussions relative to organizational capacity, dependencies, and competing enterprise priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of experience in enterprise strategy, strategic planning, governance support, organizational development, program management, or related fields
  • 7-10 years of demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed, volunteer-driven, or federated organizations
  • Strong strategic thinking, facilitation, synthesis, organizational coordination, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience supporting executive leadership, Board-level committees, governance bodies, or enterprise strategic initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level materials and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, organizational dynamics, and cross-functional stakeholder environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across staff, volunteer, and leadership groups
  • Experience supporting change management, enterprise alignment, or cross-organizational coordination initiatives preferred
  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools for synthesis, analysis, workflow efficiency, and strategic support consistent with organizational guardrails
