General Description
Performs complex (journey-level) program management specialist work in support of the Products Department of the Lottery Operations Division with particular emphasis on data analytics, sales analysis, and the effectiveness of in-lane and general retail initiatives. Work involves creating, developing, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and overseeing various tasks related to data analytics in the spheres of scratch and draw game program sales, the scratch ticket game launch schedule, scratch ticket game prize structures, product promotions, retailer trends, a/b testing, and more; recommending gaming system and reporting functionality to effectively receive sales and other-related data for analysis; and assisting with related software testing. May coordinate the work of others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the Products Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Analyzes all aspects of the scratch ticket and draw game programs and makes recommendations to improve sales, player engagement, and overall portfolio results.
- Analysis of the scratch ticket program includes evaluating the game launch schedule, price points, themes, prize structures, game life cycles, retailer distribution, and product cannibalization.
- Develops dashboards, recurring reports, and ad hoc analyses that track key performance indicators, including sales, inventory, retailer participation, and player and retailer promotions.
- Analyzes draw game promotions to assess effectiveness, incremental sales, retailer and player participation, and execution.
- Conducts pre-launch and post-launch evaluations of scratch ticket games and draw game promotions, documenting results, lessons learned, and recommended adjustment to future product strategies.
- Identifies sales trends by geography, retailer segment, game type, price point, and time period.
- Monitors market conditions, including jackpot levels, seasonality, and multijurisdictional game activity, to provide context for Texas Lottery sales performance.
- Analyzes the effectiveness of, and oversees assigned components of, the Retailer Cash Incentive Program, the Retailer Bonus Program and other retail projects; makes recommendations for improvement.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates data in various forms including sales reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, and other operational data to develop strategies that increase sales, expand the retailer base, and broaden retailer distribution channels.
- Evaluates sales data and other relevant factors of traditional and in-lane retailers and makes strategic recommendations for the scratch ticket game launch schedule, second-chance promotions, and draw game promotions.
- Provides guidance and input to agency and vendor staff related to the development of reports, both internal and retailer-facing, that include information on in-lane lottery ticket sales and validations.
- Prepares clear written summaries, data visualizations and presentations for internal stakeholders, converting complex analysis into concise, actionable recommendations.
