Strander Operator I

Job Purpose

Create wood strands by processing logs through debarker and strander.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate equipment controls to regulate the speed of logs, cut logs, and transfer flakes
• Cookordinate processes with fellow operators
• Change knives as necessary
• Identify operational issues as well as control panel issues
• Blow down the strander
• Remove log jams and bark from belts
• Monitor the flow of flakes entering the green bins
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned/necessary

• Knowledge of multiple complex equipment operation
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance
• Time management and multi-tasking skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated mechanical ability
• Demonstrated ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment
• Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations

Education

• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required

Experience

• 3 – 5 years’ experience in equipment operation
• Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
