Storytelling Associate (Temporary)

Climate Power has an immediate opening for a temporary, full-time Storytelling Associate to support the storytelling team through the election cycle. This non-exempt (hourly) position reports to the Deputy Managing Director of Communications and is expected to end on December 4, 2026.

About This Role

As a member of the Communications Engagement vertical, the Storytelling Associate will help identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with people directly impacted by attacks on climate change and clean energy progress.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Storytelling Director to identify and recruit Americans impacted by attacks on climate change and clean energy progress.
• Monitor key sources like social media, print, broadcast, and podcast clips to source new voices aligned with the organization’s priorities.
• In coordination with the Storytelling Director, develop, maintain, and grow a new retention program designed to consistently engage storytellers.
• Maintain a detailed and up-to-date tracking system for all storyteller research, outreach, and follow-up.
• Serve as a point of contact for storytellers, engaging warmly and professionally across phone, email, and other channels.
• Anticipate and respond to storytelling needs from across the organization or partners in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth experience for storytellers from first contact through onboarding, while nurturing ongoing relationships through regular check-ins.
• Conduct administrative work as needed for the storytelling program. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needs and capacity dictate.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

• 1 year of relevant prior work experience, which may include electoral campaigns, storyteller recruitment, communications, or administrative work.
• Works effectively with diverse groups, communities, and partners.
• Natural ability to connect with new people quickly and make them feel at ease.
• Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• Able to work with and across teams in a remote organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace, and other recruitment tools.

• Strong active listening skills, demonstrated ability to build trust.
• Detail-oriented — you remember the small things people say and are able to suggest new ideas and make connections based on what you hear.

Pay

Climate Power offers a competitive, non-negotiable salary based on years of experience. The salary range for this role is as follows:

• Step 1 (0-1 years): $60,900
• Step 2 (1-2 years): $62,475
• Step 3 (2-3 years): $64,050
• Step 4 (3-4 years): $65,625
• Step 5 (4-5 years): $67,200
• Step 6 (5-6 years): $68,775
• Step 7 (6-8 years): $70,350
• Step 8 (8-10 years): $71,925
• Step 9 (10+ years): $73,500

Schedule

This is a remote-first position that can be located anywhere in the United States. The role requires availability Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM EST, plus weekends and evenings as work dictates. Occasional travel is required, typically 3-4 times per year.
