Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare workstations with supplies, foods, and condiments
- Focus on delivering exceptional food quality for all meals prepared
- Prepare proper quantities of food according to department standards and guest needs
- Clean all food preparation areas strictly abide by standards set forth by ServSafe, state and local regulations, company policy, and other food regulatory standards that may apply at Story Land
- Become knowledgeable of all food products and ingredients used
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment; season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment
- Aid with basic food preparation, such as washing, peeling, slicing, fruits and vegetables
- Utilize ovens, fryers, broilers, griddles, mixers, and knives to prepare food (age restrictions may apply)
- Carefully follow recipes and procedures while preparing all food dishes
- Ensure that all service and hygienic practices, policies, and procedures are being followed at all times
- Pre-portion individual packaging sauces, sandwiches, salads, and other items
- Escalate safety, hygienic, or maintenance issues to the proper authorities in a timely manner
- Keep kitchen space neat and clean to meet company and legal standards
- Properly handle, label, stock, and store products including chemicals and cleaning supplies (age restrictions may apply)
- Promptly notify the security team or the manager of host and guest injuries or emergencies
- Ensure that all work areas, food and equipment/utensils used are cleaned, stowed and secured in preparation for the next day’s work, in accordance with state and local sanitation protocols
- All other duties assigned by leadership
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with New Hampshire Child Labor Laws
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift
- Ability to comply with all uniform policies
- Exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
- Safety-oriented mindset and understanding of the importance of complying with all state, and local food preparation and serving regulations
- Ability to use kitchen equipment, knives, and appliances in a safe and effective manner
- General knowledge and interest in food preparation or culinary arts
- Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independently
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
- Frequent stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
- Withstand heat and humidity from the food preparation equipment
- Carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more
- Use a step ladder in a safe and proper manner
Working Conditions
- Potential to be asked to work in other indoor or outdoor areas of the park, as needed
- Some exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain and other weather conditions
- Exposure to the handling of and exposure to oils, chemicals, detergents, and cleaners (age restrictions apply)
- Frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, and heavily populated environments
