About the Role

To assist the site Materials Manager and Maintenance Planner in meeting site inventory requirements along with mill scheduled and planned maintenance needs. This position will be accountable for a high level of customer service to all internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Service the daily needs of all plant personnel that come into the storeroom.
  • Perform physical receiving responsibilities, including inspecting shipments for damage and verifying contents against packing lists.
  • Conduct physical checks of all “Special Instruction” received items (e.g., “Go/no go gauge”).
  • Ensure electronic receiving accuracy based on physical accuracy.
  • Restock inventories received or returned to the storeroom daily.
  • Assist in performing inventory cycle counts, physical counts, and counts on mill critical spares.
  • Add new parts to the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Assist in the month-end process, working directly with the Supply Chain Planning & Fulfillment Manager.
  • Adjust the inventory database for returned and critical inventory.
  • Maintain, print, and replace inventory cards with updated bins for accurate ordering.
  • Inform plant requestors and the mill planner of material receipts that impact maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Properly fill out and maintain material releases and EAM work orders for repair items.
  • Track all spares sent out for repair.
  • Assist mill maintenance personnel in identifying and requesting needed items.
  • Maintain organization, neatness, and cleanliness of the stores, storage mezzanines, and satellite storage areas.
  • Assist internal customers with defining new items to be added to the inventory database.
  • Manage paper flow, including receipts of inventoried items, and send to the proper processing center (AP or Office Manager) with appropriate documentation.
  • Handle all outgoing shipments of the mill (parcel and freight, excluding board).
  • Perform daily and weekly inventories of oil and fast-moving inventory.
  • Assist the Materials Manager with acquisitions and vendor relationships.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety, quality, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Attend all mandatory maintenance department meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the manufacturing process, stores management, and maintenance planning processes.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize short-term and long-term activities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong site-level relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in computer operations and support software (EAM, SAP, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Knowledge of effective materials management, storeroom operations, and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of demonstrated maintenance, procurement, or supply management experience preferred, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • 2 years of vocational/technical school training desirable.
  • Storeroom/Materials Management experience preferred.
  • Planning and Scheduling training preferred.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in the general plant environment.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed.
  • Extended walking, squatting, lifting, and standing required.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to use stairs and rolling ladders.
  • Use of materials handling tools, hand trucks, or pallet lift trucks.
  • Must be able to hear communications and safety alerts.
