Store Team Member (Cashier, Stocker, Animal Care)

About the role

As a Store Team Member at Pet Supplies Plus, you’re passionate about people and their pets. You’ll provide exceptional, neighborly service throughout your shift, helping neighbors select the perfect toys, compare pet food ingredients, fit harnesses, educate customers on bird ownership, stock shelves, ring up purchases, feed store pets, and keep their habitats clean—all while engaging with neighbors and maintaining a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to neighbors selecting pet products.
• Compare ingredient labels and recommend suitable pet foods.
• Fit harnesses and other gear for pets of all sizes.
• Educate customers on pet care and ownership.
• Stock shelves to ensure products are available and organized.
• Process purchases accurately and efficiently at checkout.
• Provide care for store pets, including cleaning habitats, feeding, and handling animals.
• Answer customer questions about animal care and product selection.
• Assist with unloading deliveries, stocking, and carrying purchases to customers’ vehicles.
• Act as backup for other team members when extra help is needed.

The Store Team Member position can be physically demanding, requiring heavy lifting (40–65 lbs.) and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must pass a drug screening (in applicable states).
• Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Knowledgeable about animals and pet products.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Pay

Starting pay ranges from $17.00 to $18.00 per hour.
