Store Support Team Member- Part Time Morning to Afternoon

About the role

Valley Natural Foods is a community-owned grocery co-op in Burnsville, MN, dedicated to supporting local farmers, sustainability, and healthy living. We're seeking a Store Support Team Member who enjoys learning new skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment, and jumping in wherever they're needed to support both our customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Greeting customers and providing friendly, efficient checkout service.
• Operating the cash register and accurately processing payments.
• Answering customer questions and connecting them with the right resources when needed.
• Stocking shelves, rotating products, and keeping displays full, organized, and attractive.
• Preparing fresh juices, smoothies, espresso drinks, coffee, and tea.
• Weighing, labeling, and packaging deli and meat department items.
• Ensuring products are accurately priced and labeled.
• Following food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
• Pitching in wherever needed to help keep the store running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Qualifications: English proficiency, excellent time management, organizational and communication (oral, aural, and written) skills, detail oriented, and able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business, regular, predictable attendance.
• Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with POS systems, previous customer service and cash handling experience, familiarity with natural foods, grocery industry or cooperatives.

Part Time mornings to afternoon, preferably Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 30 pounds frequently; 30-50+ pounds occasionally
• Manual dexterity with ability to reach, grasp and utilize hands, wrists, and fingers for extended periods of time
• Close-to-general range visual acuity to evaluate and interact in working environment and focus on and/or read data and words on a computer monitor for extended periods of time
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Regular exposure to working in refrigerated and frozen environments
• Climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and bend occasionally required
