About the role
Micro Center is the nation’s leading computer and electronic device big-box retailer, offering an industry-leading selection of premier computer products and a knowledgeable staff. We are seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented Store Stock Technician to service returned computers or other computer-related equipment and prepare it for resale or process it according to documented standards.
Responsibilities
- Follow detailed instructions to ensure high output
- Identify, diagnose, and document hardware failure or software problems on a variety of computer or computer-related equipment (e.g., televisions, tablets, wearable devices, computer monitors, and other accessories)
- Provide complete and accurate written documentation regarding diagnostics and resolutions
- Complete assigned work orders within established timeframes
- Understand and utilize technical manuals and other support resources
- Complete a minimum of 1.5 orders per tracked hour on average per pay period
- Maintain minimum quality standards based on clearance item “bounce rate” or return rates
- Return product to as near a “new in box” state prior to releasing it for sale
- Accurately complete all service and Point of Sale transactions
- Follow the Store Stock Process as documented
- Keep up to date on retail products, current technologies, and service certifications as required by management
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand at least eight hours per day
- Ability to reach and grasp or handle objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to frequently walk, stoop, or kneel and occasionally climb stairs or ladders
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to adjust focus, with color vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, and close vision to read UPC symbols, manuals, etc.
- Ability to work in conditions typical of a high-technology retail environment, including moderate noise levels
- Ability to work schedules that include all hours of store operation and other hours as needed
Skills
- Ability to talk, hear, read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively communicate information verbally in one-on-one, small, or large group situations to customers and other associates
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form
