Store Shift Supervisor

About the Role

As Store Shift Supervisor at Pet Supplies Plus, you’re passionate about people and their pets. You’ll provide exceptional, neighborly service while assisting neighbors with pet needs, setting an example for the team, and reinforcing daily operational procedures and performance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with store team leaders to learn and reinforce PSP standards and daily management routines.
• Provide leadership coverage and manage store functions up to four times a week when team leaders are offsite.
• Adhere to operational policies and procedures (cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security).
• Perform back-office procedures, including making signs, updating price changes, and inputting cashier records.
• Assist in store recruiting, onboarding, and team member development.
• Communicate opportunities to improve community engagement or store performance to team leaders.
• Act as a store team member when not serving as manager-on-duty or learning operational tasks.
• Perform nail trims on pets as needed.
• Engage with neighbors and deliver fantastic service, such as:
  • Assisting neighbors in choosing pet products (e.g., toys, fish tank supplies).
  • Greeting regular customers and their pets by name.
  • Demonstrating tasks like testing fish tank water for customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of retail experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong sales and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate store equipment, including forklifts, and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules and reliable transportation.
• Must pass a drug screening (where allowed by law) and be 18 years or older.
