About the Role

In this role, you will help customers enjoy more sports and outdoor activities by making their store visits during their busiest season easier, friendlier, and more productive. You may support customers in various functions such as sales, cashier, merchandising, and receiving work.

Responsibilities

• Support customers in finding the right products
• Complete checkout transactions
• Prepare merchandise for the sales floor
• Keep pricing and signage accurate
• Maintain a welcoming and organized store environment
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide assistance

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED
• Previous related work experience preferred
• Ability to learn and adapt to a wide range of processes and procedures
• Engaging customer service skills supported by effective listening and speaking
• Basic math skills and the ability to understand instructions through reading and writing
• Proficiency using a handheld or desktop computer, point-of-sale equipment, and a telephone
• Ability to learn and recall Academy products and services, understand customer needs, and provide assistance
• A team-first attitude; while your core duties are your priority, you're happy to step in wherever you're needed

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
• Ability to remain on your feet and move throughout the store for extended periods during scheduled shifts
• Stooping, crouching, grasping, pushing, and pulling frequently, and balancing occasionally
• Lifting up to 20 lbs constantly, 21 to 40 lbs frequently, and 41 to 60 lbs occasionally
• An acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus
