Store Sales Associate

Department: Store Operations | Reports To: Store Management | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Location: In Store

About the Role

The Sales Associate plays a critical role by delivering excellent customer service and demonstrating knowledge of merchandise to achieve high customer satisfaction. This position requires a proactive, vigilant individual who remains highly engaged with customers, demonstrates integrity, effective communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic retail setting. The Sales Associate contributes to building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.

Responsibilities

• Processes freight and assists with price changes/markdowns.
• Balances register according to company policy.
• Bags merchandise efficiently during customer transactions.
• Handles all cash, checks, and credit cards correctly and in compliance with company policy.
• Obtains management approval for returns, voids, and checks when needed.
• Performs maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Provides proper customer service, including greeting customers, adhering to fitting room policies, ringing customers in a timely manner, thanking them for shopping, and inviting them to return.
• Follows all safety procedures and maintains a professional, neat appearance, including wearing a name tag.
• Assists management in merchandising the sales floor according to stock levels.
• Explains exchange/refund policies to customers after transactions.
• Assists the Store Manager with Loss Prevention procedures, including preventing shoplifting and cash losses, reporting incidents of theft or dishonesty, and following all operational policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
