About the role
A Parts Professional provides prompt and courteous service to all customers over the telephone, in the store, or in the dealer’s shop. They look up the parts application in catalogs or POS system, process orders with high accuracy, efficiency, and courtesy, assist and advise customers on part selection, and exhibit a thorough knowledge of products.
Responsibilities
- Implements appropriate sales practices such as greeting customers, demonstrating product knowledge, and quickly understanding customer needs.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by serving all customers, securing the right part, and resolving customer issues.
- Demonstrates professional attitude, conduct, and appearance.
- Maintains POS computer abilities by learning and applying how to use catalog and system, practicing asset security/loss prevention controls, and understanding store’s pricing methods.
- Provides sales support functions by processing salespersons' stock orders, reporting overages/shortages/damaged merchandise, and ensuring the good appearance of store and displays.
- Participates in training as needed and required.
- Performs all other associated tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Establish and maintain good relations with customers through courteous, efficient, and professional service.
- Functionally literate and capable of understanding and recognizing part numbers and line codes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Enjoy working with people in a fast-paced setting; competitive under pressure.
- ASE Parts Specialist (automotive) certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of the part of the city the store services and ability to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission.
- Capable of standing and walking for an entire work shift.
- Capable of lifting and moving parts and boxes of up to 60 pounds.
- Capable of bending or stooping to floor-level shelves and reaching upper shelves with use of a stool or ladder when necessary.
- Capable of moving engine blocks, core barrels, and other heavy equipment with moving aids designed to move such items, including hand trucks, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts, etc.
Qualifications
- Capable of operating TAMS point-of-sale system and cataloging.
- Uses the adding machine and processes cash, check, and credit card transactions.
- Visually capable of recognizing and distinguishing letters and numbers and remembering their sequencing.
Skills
- Customer service skills.
- Technical knowledge of automotive parts.
- Computer literacy, particularly with POS systems.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Attention to detail.

Pay
The starting hourly rate is $22.25. Many hourly positions have pay progression with set starting rates, reaching the top end within 12 months of hire. Other positions' starting rates are determined based on individual skills, experience, and qualifications.
Schedule
We offer flexible retail hours at any store location as assigned by management.
