STORE/NIGHT CLERK

Responsibilities

• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
• Deliver excellent customer service by embracing the Customer 1st strategy.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of special offers.
• Check product quality, review sell by dates, and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with store promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and log temperatures.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Desired: Retail experience, second language proficiency (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
