Responsibilities
- Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
- Deliver excellent customer service by embracing the Customer 1st strategy.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer inquiries.
- Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of special offers.
- Check product quality, review sell by dates, and take appropriate action.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Display a positive attitude and stay current with store promotions.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and log temperatures.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report all safety risks, illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Qualifications
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Desired: Retail experience, second language proficiency (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
