About the role
We are seeking an experienced manager with a solid understanding of how a ski shop operates. The person filling this position will work with hourly employees and assistant managers to provide an exceptional experience for our customers while reinforcing procedures to maintain consistency amongst our three locations. The shop runs at an extremely high pace from September through January and will require hands-on leadership to keep things running smoothly and to keep morale up. We try and keep a fun work atmosphere, but it is your responsibility to maintain that atmosphere while ensuring a professional work environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure every customer receives the best experience.
- Lead by example to effectively drive the performance of team members.
- Effectively coach on store policies, protocols, and expectations.
- Oversee the daily operations and schedules for all departments.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling 25-30 people during the busy season (September-March) and 10-15 during the summer months.
- Direct reports include 3 assistant managers to help in each department (Ski, Clothing, and Snowboard).
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and assist in training all new employees.
- Sell and service both ski and snowboard equipment when necessary.
- Sell and service outdoor patio furniture when necessary.
- Schedule and coordinate the facility's maintenance and security.
- Able to stand for 8 hours and lift 50 pounds; this is a physical position that includes lifting, standing for extended periods, and bending over.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years related retail management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Exceptional supervisory and management skills.
- Strong work ethic and enthusiastic about new challenges.
- Ability to self-motivate and self-manage.
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, time manage, multitask, and work in a high-energy, fast-paced retail setting.
- Ability to handle complaints with poise while remaining polite and professional.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet applications.
- Ability to be flexible with their schedule through the winter months.
- Must work a full schedule for at least 5 days a week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Schedule
