About the Role

The Store Manager - Unassigned is responsible for learning the company’s culture and operations while supporting and strengthening its core philosophies. This role requires strong leadership skills to motivate and supervise team members, with a focus on merchandising, shrink control, and operational excellence. A successful Store Manager - Unassigned will become knowledgeable about the local market, customer base, seasonal opportunities, and competitors. This role is a leadership position requiring problem-solving, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage time effectively to achieve budgeted goals. Within 6 to 12 months, the Store Manager - Unassigned must demonstrate proficiency in store operations and be willing and able to relocate.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Family Farm and Home’s mission statement and family values.
  • Foster an aggressive sales culture with a focus on superior customer service.
  • Lead and motivate a team by hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and evaluating team members.
  • Maintain professionalism and positive store morale.
  • Ensure execution of all store job responsibilities through key associates or personal actions.
  • Complete store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning team members and following up on work results.
  • Provide feedback to corporate teams, including buyers, district managers, and other company officials.
  • Assume full profit and loss accountability for individual store locations.
  • Achieve financial objectives by assisting in annual budget preparation, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Identify customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers.
  • Build relationships and support local community groups consistent with company values.
  • Ensure merchandise and service availability by approving contracts and maintaining inventories.
  • Manage and protect all inventory and company assets in accordance with company policy.
  • Verify merchandise is received, stored, and merchandised according to operational and safety procedures.
  • Protect employees and customers by complying with legal requirements and maintaining a safe, clean store environment.
  • Assist in determining marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and networking.
  • Ensure consistent operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors or company officials.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage with limited supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and associates.
  • Comfort with hiring and firing team members.
  • Understanding of aggressive customer service and team-oriented environments.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret data presented in statistical or numerical form and use it to assess and coordinate merchandise and operational aspects of store operations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures, climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
