About the role

Full-time Store Assistant position with flexible availability at a Grand Canyon BU location in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Essential duties

• Leadership and Management: Directly supervises activities of 2 or more full-time employees including Assistant Manager(s), Lead Representative(s) and Customer Service Representative(s). Recruits, hires and trains employees. Develops, manages and assigns tasks to ensure store is clean, stocked, organized and well-kept. Maintains professional and supportive image. Schedules employees within Company guidelines. Implements non-discriminatory management skills while hiring, training, counseling, mentoring, motivating and separating employees.
• Store Relationships: Develops positive relationships with suppliers. Promotes excellent service and resolves customer complaints in a timely, professional manner. Provides regular and predictable onsite attendance. Promotes safe, positive public image within neighboring community.
• Training and Development: Prepares ongoing performance appraisals in Workday including 30- and 60-day check-ins, 90-day, 12-month, and anniversary check-ins. Trains employees on customer service, store image, marketing execution, and safety procedures. Mentors and trains employees on cash awareness and expectations. Ensures employees complete all required training timely.
• Communications: Develops ways to ensure all employees receive proper communication in a timely manner. Establishes periodic ongoing communication meetings with store employees and Market Manager.
• Organizing and Planning: Evaluates and develops action plans to address store needs. Organizes and maintains store files and manuals. Manages employees to ensure reports are completed accurately and timely. Manages employees to ensure merchandise is stocked, attractively displayed and priced correctly. Ensures employment posters and signs are accessible to all employees.
• Financial: Analyzes daily sales and expense information and takes appropriate action to maximize sales and net profits. Budgets and forecasts P&L lines, understands and manages merchandise margins. Safeguards and accounts for money received and disbursed. Performs financial analysis to maximize sales and net profits. Notifies Market Manager of sales, cash, inventory or operating discrepancies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years of retail work experience or equivalent combination preferred.
• Ability to supervise and train for use of equipment, tools and materials listed in CSR, LSR and Store Assistant job descriptions.
• Ability to supervise and manage functions listed in CSR, LSR and Store Assistant job descriptions.
• Ability to use computer, including completion and analysis of reports, inventory control, cash control, employment forms, etc.
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
• Open availability.
• Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
• Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described.
• Ability to work in conditions described.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Food Server certificate (e.g., ServSafe) and Food Safety Management certification may be required.

Physical requirements

• Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
• Ability to be exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes performing occasional work in walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist.
• Ability to grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift requiring eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds utilizing a hand-truck.
• Ability to reach overhead for objects.
• Ability to bend and twist at waist.
• Ability to communicate orally.
• Ability to operate cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
• Ability to work alone.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for entire shift.
• May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.

Work environment

• Work requires 50 hours per week and can include hours on all shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Approximately 95% of work indoors, but may require cleaning parking lots, gas pumps, taking out garbage, etc.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

$19.00 to $27.00 per hour.
