Job Responsibilities/Tasks
- Maintains and improves customer service through reminders, training, and action plans.
- Greet customers and clinic patients, offer assistance, and model customer service best practices.
- Resolve customer complaints and assist with special needs.
- Supervise store and pharmacy operations, including opening/closing, shift changes, and task delegation.
- Manage store finances, including register counts, withdrawals, and inventory management.
- Plan and implement merchandising strategies, analyze inventory trends, and manage receiving, stocking, and pricing.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, including alcohol and pharmacy product sales.
- Support staff in using technology systems and address system issues.
- Ensure store cleanliness and maintain repairs and maintenance.
- Manage operations to meet district manager feedback and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assign daily operational responsibilities and set expectations for team members.
- Analyze financial and performance data to increase sales and control costs.
- Review pharmacy and clinic performance indicators and support during busy periods.
- Identify sales opportunities and manage inventory levels.
- Manage team member performance, assign responsibilities, set goals, observe performance, provide feedback, and recognize achievements.
- Develop employee performance plans and ensure timely completion of required training programs.
- Communicate regularly with team members through one-on-one discussions, group meetings, and soliciting input.
- Serve as a liaison between district, corporate, and the store, responding to requests, providing feedback, and implementing initiatives.
- Conduct community outreach and assist in planning and attending community events.
People and Performance Management
- Manages team member performance by assigning responsibilities, setting goals, and providing feedback.
- Makes hiring, promotion, and termination decisions based on performance and company needs.
- Engages with Employee Relations and Human Resources to address issues and discipline store team members.
- Develops employee performance plans and follows up according to deadlines.
- Ensures compliance with all corporate policies and applicable employment laws.
- Communicates regularly with team members to establish expectations, track results, show enthusiasm, and share vision.
Training and Personal Development
- Participates in company and on-the-job training to improve skills and productivity.
- Attends training requested by District Management and corporate, including Walgreens School of Operations completion within six months.
- Obtains pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law (or pursue PTCB or ExCPT certification if required).
- Seeks self-development by monitoring own performance, setting high personal standards, learning about retail and management, and staying updated on best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of retail management experience.
- Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh as soon as possible given state law requirements.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- PTCB or ExCPT Certification.
- Three years retail management experience, including supervising others, managing, and assigning work.
- Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh.
