About the role
As Shop Manager you hold overall responsibility for your shop. You’ll drive performance by managing KPIs, deliver the best possible shopping experience, develop your team, and strengthen White Stuff’s presence in the local community.
Responsibilities
- Customer Experience
- Train, drive, and coach the team to deliver an amazing in-store customer experience in line with our pillars: Be Friendly, Be Valuable, Be Inspiring.
- Ensure the team meets customer needs through multichannel shopping and endless-aisle orders.
- Engage customers with our brand via email newsletter sign-ups, purchase tagging, and e-receipts.
- Product Presentation & Visual Standards
- Evaluate floor layout and sales trends regularly and take action to respond to commercial opportunity.
- Ensure the team understands product features and can explain them to customers to support styling and purchase decisions.
- Maintain excellent product and shop standards at all times.
- Implement brand visual-merchandising standards and make placement decisions tailored to the shop, market, and customer.
- Create a commercial environment where the team consistently evaluates floor layout and KPIs and takes appropriate action.
- Evaluate shop product packages and feed back commercial opportunities to the Area Manager.
- Optimise stock levels for sales opportunities and liaise with Merchandising to influence decisions.
- Commercial Management
- Understand and maximise commercial opportunities to increase sales; coach the team to do the same.
- Ensure the shop operates within set budgets.
- Lead the coordination of promotions, incentives, and key trading weeks.
- People Management & Development
- Use Learning & Development and operational tools to develop the team’s knowledge and skills and help them reach their potential.
- Create a positive team atmosphere focused on delivering results.
- Lead team briefs to set knowledge and motivation for achieving targets.
- Ensure effective staff planning so the right people are in the right places at the right times.
- Set team objectives to ensure collective goal achievement.
- Attract, recruit, and retain high-calibre team members.
- Engage in succession planning to grow internal talent.
- Seek local events that could benefit the shop.
- Provide regular praise and feedback to support engagement and continuous development.
- Lead annual and interim reviews, monitoring objectives throughout the year.
- Shop Operations
- Lead efficient and accurate delivery and replenishment processes.
- Organise stocktake and ensure accurate reconciliation.
- Manage ship-from-store and Click & Collect processes effectively.
- Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead Health & Safety processes and ensure team compliance.
- Develop professional relationships with other teams and areas of the business.
- Doing Good Stuff

- Support our charity partner and any related events or promotions.
- Understand our approach to ethical sourcing and environmental impact so you can explain it to customers and the team.
