Store Manager

Responsibilities

• Greet and service customers per company standards of World Class customer service.
• Train and monitor staff on giving exemplary customer service.
• Ensure staff is in compliance with food safety certifications and register.
• Assist customers in all areas of the store, including handling special orders and managing mark-downs.
• Manage store sales and operational metrics, including sales per labor hour ratio, average ticket, customer count, cost of goods sold, and EBITDA.
• Train and cross-train staff to accomplish all needed tasks.
• Conduct store staff performance evaluations and grant wage increases when appropriate.
• Interview and hire store staff, with input from department managers.
• Address performance and disciplinary issues appropriately with assistance from Human Resources.
• Maintain clear and direct communication with store staff through monthly meetings and company information postings.
• Ensure safety guidelines are followed at all times.
• Manage business disruptions such as loiterers, solicitation, and emergency weather situations.
• Hire, train, and develop store staff, department managers, and Assistant Store Managers for future roles.
• Train new store management on proper store and department operations.
• Encourage staff to increase nutritional and product knowledge and train on new products and nutrition.
• Answer customer questions per company standards and monitor all departments.
• Support decisions made by home office and listen to directions from home office, following through and correctly performing the job assigned.
• Communicate all issues with home office and ensure issues are resolved.
• Maintain store appearance and cleanliness.
• Respond quickly to store staff calls when on duty and assist with coverage for lunches and breaks.

  Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.
  • Able to manage changing priorities.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks and stays focused with the task at hand.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail and takes direction and follows through.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
