About the role
A NAPA Counter Sales associate serves as the “face of the retail store” and the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive parts and solutions. This role is ideal for individuals with automotive parts knowledge, whether gained professionally or through personal experience, and offers opportunities for career growth within the company.
Responsibilities
- Provide auto parts answers and solutions for retail and wholesale customers in person at the counter or over the phone.
- Assist other NAPA team members with customer questions using your parts knowledge.
- Deliver outstanding customer care and interactions with everyone who visits the store.
- Bring high energy and customer focus to a fast-paced retail environment.
- Welcome retail customers and engage them to ensure a positive experience.
- Utilize technology such as computers, cash registers, telephones, and paper catalog systems.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Previous experience in a parts store or automotive industry, or a willingness to learn all aspects of auto parts.
- High School Diploma or GED; technical or trade school courses or degree are a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong listening skills and empathy for customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background or passion for the automotive industry, heavy equipment, farm industry, diesel, marine, or dealership.
- Experience in a parts store, auction, retail store, or auto body/collision.
- Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems.
- Customer-centric mindset (both external and internal customers).
- ASE Certifications.
