Storage Engineer III
About the role
The Storage Engineer III position involves planning and managing the installation, configuration, and tuning of SAN, Dell/EMC storage technologies, and Cisco MDS 9718 environments to ensure the security and continuous availability of data storage networks across the enterprise and for banking customers. This role provides level 3/4 support, documents issues, resolutions, and procedural operations, tracks and analyzes root causes of issues post-mortem, plans and manages storage provisioning, SAN, and backups, performs capacity analysis, monitors storage systems, handles break/fix tasks with vendors, and follows upgrade paths and best practices for current storage technologies. The role also administers hardware components for Dell/EMC, HP, IBM, and Pure Storage systems, interprets storage protocols, manages and maintains company storage-based systems, and deploys storage technologies.
Responsibilities
- Manage and provide current disk storage usage statistics and future projected growth estimates.
- Administer hardware components for Dell/EMC, HP, IBM, and Pure Storage systems.
- Interpret storage protocols for iSCSI, Fibre Channel, CIFS, NFS, and NDMP.
- Manage and maintain company's storage-based systems and deployment of storage technologies.
- Flexible work schedule to perform planned activities occurring outside normal business hours.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 7 years of experience in storage management or providing solutions using Dell/EMC technologies, including 5 years of experience in:
- Fibre Channel switch management using Cisco MDS technology to zone fabric and provide LUN masking;
- Storage provisioning across various platforms of Windows, Unix, and VMware servers;
- Data migrations between storage arrays within data center and between data centers;
- Supporting 7+ petabyte storage environment in a large financial institution environment;
- Communicating with internal technology teams to identify requirements, diagnose issues, and discuss solutions;
- Disaster Recovery and high availability;
- Shell scripting and automating migrations;
- Distributed backup and restore software;
- Troubleshooting escalated storage issues;
- Isilon administration.
