Stocker - Receiving

Non-exempt position reporting to the Receiving Manager, Assistant Receiving Manager, and Receiving Supervisor.

About the role

The Stocker ensures all products are delivered to their assigned department or area, packs out and stocks merchandise to maintain continuous customer availability, and provides friendly assistance to customers. They also assist customers with product selection and retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Removes pallets from delivery trucks using a scooter or pallet/pump jack.
• Stages pallets and merchandise for supervisor inspection to meet HACCP regulations.
• Breaks down vendor pallets and separates products for different departments.
• Secures product on pallets by properly stocking and wrapping merchandise.
• Completes block tags with item number and delivery date, attaching them to pallets for proper identification and rotation.
• Moves pallets to designated departments.
• Maintains a safe work area by promptly handling spills and disposing of debris (e.g., plastic wrap, ties, wood).
• Performs required safety checks of equipment before use and reports safety concerns to supervisor.
• Provides basic equipment maintenance, such as charging electric equipment.
• Delivers prompt, courteous, and friendly customer service.
• Assists customers with loading, off-loading, product location, and detailed product information.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must wear steel toe boots.
• Lifting/Carrying Abilities:
  • Lift strength (0”–60”): 50 lbs.
  • Overhead lift strength: 50 lbs.
  • Carry strength (50’ or less): 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lift/carry (>12x/hour): 50 lbs.
  • Constant lift/carry (>30x/hour): 20 lbs.
  • Horizontal push/pull strength: 500 lbs.
• Physical Aptitudes:
  • Agility/dynamic balance: 80–100%.
  • Finger dexterity: 80–100%.
  • Manual dexterity: 80–100%.

  • Stand/walk: constantly.
  • Reach above shoulder level: occasionally.

Work Environment

Ambient temperature varies with outdoor conditions, as receiving doors are mostly kept open. May need to enter cold areas when receiving products for the Deli, Produce, or Meat Departments. The warehouse environment includes industrial vehicles (e.g., forklifts, HiLos) moving material throughout the area.
