Stocker - Receiving

Non-exempt position reporting to the Receiving Manager, Assistant Receiving Manager, and Receiving Supervisor.

About the role

The Stocker ensures all products are delivered to their assigned department or area, packs out and stocks merchandise to maintain continuous customer availability, and provides friendly customer service. They assist customers with product selection, retrieval, loading, and off-loading as needed.

Responsibilities

• Removes pallets from delivery trucks using a scooter or pallet/pump jack.
• Stages pallets and merchandise for supervisor inspection to meet HACCP regulations.
• Breaks down vendor pallets and separates products for different departments.
• Secures product on pallets with wrap and completes block tags with item number and delivery date.
• Moves pallets to designated departments.
• Maintains a safe work area by handling spills and disposing of debris (e.g., plastic wrap, ties, wood).
• Performs safety checks and basic maintenance on equipment (e.g., charging electric equipment).
• Informs supervisor of any safety concerns.
• Provides prompt, courteous customer service, including assistance with product location and loading.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must wear steel toe boots.
• Lifting/carrying abilities:
  • Lift strength (0”–60”): 50 lbs.
  • Overhead lift strength: 50 lbs.
  • Carry strength (50’ or less): 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lift/carry (>12x/hour): 50 lbs.
  • Constant lift/carry (>30x/hour): 20 lbs.
  • Horizontal push/pull strength: 500 lbs.
• Physical aptitudes:
  • Agility/dynamic balance: 80–100%.
  • Finger dexterity: 80–100%.
  • Manual dexterity: 80–100%.
• Posture tolerance:
  • Stand/walk: constantly.
  • Reach above shoulder level: occasionally.
  • Twist/turn head: constantly.
  • Bend over/stoop: frequently.
  • Climb steps/ladder: occasionally.

Work Environment

Ambient temperature varies with outdoor conditions, as receiving doors are mostly open. May need to enter cold areas when receiving products for Deli, Produce, or Meat Departments. Industrial vehicles (e.g., forklifts, HiLos) operate throughout the warehouse.
