What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do?
A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.
- Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications
- Assist with feeding
- Transport and attend activities or programs with residents
- Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation
- Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse
- Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas
- Apply safety & infection control measures
- Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
- Assist nursing personnel with admissions, discharge, & transfer of residents
Qualifications
- Current STNA/CNA certification or listed on the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience required
