STNA/Nurse Aide Hospice - Home Care KY- Day Shift

About the role

A Hospice Aide, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides care and assistance to terminally ill patients within the scope of experience and ability.

Responsibilities

• Clean and bathe patients
• Assistance in toileting
• Maintain patients' hygiene and change bedding
• Turn, reposition and transfer or move patients between wheelchairs, seats and beds
• Serve meals and help patients eat their food
• Assist in cleaning and housekeeping of patient area
• Maintain par stock of supplies on hand
• Measure vital signs like blood pressure and temperature
• Observe and listen to patients regarding any health concerns they might have and report details or changes in condition to Registered Nurse

Schedule & setting

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with weekends as scheduled
• Care site: private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, apartments

Requirements

• Completion of State approved Nurse Aide course, testing, and registration required
• At least one year of experience in a patient care position in a hospital, nursing home, or related health care facility preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Personal qualities of empathy, responsibility, and dependability
• Must demonstrate effective communication skills with team members, clients, and family members
• Must have ability to accept supervision and follow instructions
• Must carry state minimum in automobile liability insurance
• Must be able to access patient homes and facilities independently
• Must demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and observe universal precautions
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds using proper body mechanics
• Must have valid driver's license, current auto insurance and reliable transportation
