About the role
The DMSMS Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing proactive obsolescence-monitoring mechanisms to mitigate risks related to diminishing manufacturing sources and material availability. This role leads and coordinates obsolescence mitigation efforts, ensuring alignment with program schedules, technical roadmaps, and customer plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate obsolescence-monitoring mechanisms to proactively identify and address diminishing manufacturing sources and material availability risks.
- Lead, track, and coordinate schedules for obsolescence mitigation efforts to reduce program and production risk.
- Develop DMSMS and obsolescence-management solutions for common parts, assemblies, and subcomponents.
- Ensure alignment of DMSMS mitigation activities within project plans, technical roadmaps, and customer strategies to ensure consistent representation of risks and resolutions.
- Conduct logistics and supply-supportability assessments to identify potential impacts resulting from part obsolescence, diminishing suppliers, or material shortages.
- Identify specific components experiencing current or emerging obsolescence risks and assess impacts to system performance, cost, schedule, and availability.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend viable alternative components, suppliers, redesign paths, or mitigation strategies.
- Communicate short- and long-term logistics requirements, risks, and capability gaps that could influence program decisions and long-term sustainment.
- Collaborate with engineering, logistics, procurement, and program teams to ensure coordinated mitigation planning and execution.
- Monitor industry trends, supplier updates, and global manufacturing conditions to anticipate future risk areas.
- Provide subject-matter expertise to senior leadership, program offices, and mission partners regarding DMSMS risk-management strategies.
Requirements
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Professional experience in DMSMS management, obsolescence analysis, logistics supportability, or supply chain risk management.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing lifecycles, component sourcing, supply chain vulnerabilities, and sustainment planning.
- Experience performing obsolescence assessments and identifying alternative components or solutions.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, system bills of materials (BOMs), part specifications, and supplier documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate technical risks and propose viable mitigations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey risks, recommendations, and long-term impacts to stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to coordinate with engineering, logistics, procurement, and program-management teams to align mitigation actions.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple mitigation efforts and evolving priorities.
- Familiarity with DMSMS tracking tools, databases, forecasting methods, or industry best practices is highly preferred.

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $73,727.00 - $105,000.00.
