Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, set up, and verify operation of medical equipment for issuance
- Oversee collection, processing, and prompt delivery of equipment to patient areas
- Perform minor equipment repairs; refer major repairs to Clinical Engineering
- Assist Supply Assistants in prioritizing work based on incoming requests
- Call in or hold over additional staff as needed
- Monitor staff assignments for completion and complete written/verbal shift reports
- Answer telephones, greet visitors, and check call logs for completeness
- Report equipment unavailability to units and department staff via OnDemand Order updates
- Train and orient new staff as assigned
- Perform data entry and look up information using computer systems
Requirements
- One year of experience cleaning medical equipment preferred, including issuing equipment, picking up soiled equipment, decontamination, function verification, and setup for reissue
- Knowledge of personal protection equipment, proper cleaning techniques, and basic computer skills (information lookup, data entry)
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include one of the following:
- Successful completion of a nationally accredited central service technician exam AND current certification as a registered central service technician, sterile processing and distribution technician, or equivalent credential
- Evidence of employment as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year between January 1, 2011, and January 1, 2015
- Examination and certification as described above within eighteen months of hire
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays based on operational need.
Pay
Starting salary: $38,235 annually, plus a $4,000 annual geographical payment.
