Sterile Products Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepares non-hazardous sterile product preparations (e.g. IV medications) adhering to department SOPs.
• Prepares hazardous sterile product preparations (e.g. chemo therapy medications) using all appropriate personal protective equipment adhering to department SOPs.
• Properly uses all IV room equipment to prepare assigned compounds in a sterile environment.
• Aids in cleaning of IV and anterooms as assigned.
• Records all required environmental monitoring of IV workspace as assigned.
• Restocks IV rooms with an appropriate amount of supplies to meet USP standards and expectations as assigned.
• Maintains skill and competency in sterile product preparation by completing required education modules and required testing.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a sterile compounding environment is strongly preferred.
• A High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Completion of Pharmacy Technician program in preferred.
• A current National Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred.
• A pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection must be obtained within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
