Sterile Processing Technician Trainee
About the role
The Sterile Processing Technician Trainee is an entry-level position designed for individuals pursuing a career in Sterile Processing through a structured educational pathway supported by Stepful. Under supervision, trainees learn decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment while progressing toward certification and employment as a Sterile Processing Technician.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Stepful coursework and competencies
- Assist with instrument decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization preparation, inventory management, storage and distribution of sterile supplies
- Maintain documentation
- Support quality and infection prevention initiatives
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Enrollment in or eligibility for a Stepful-supported Sterile Processing Technician training program
- Basic computer proficiency
- Effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare, customer service, supply chain, or clinical support experience
- Familiarity with medical terminology
