Job Summary
St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician I for their Florence Sterile Processing department. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, second shift. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all surgical and procedural supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, and distributed.
- Respecting, dignifying, kind, and empathetic interactions with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees.
Job Description
The Sterile Processing Technician I will perform the following tasks:
- Decontamination: Collects soiled case carts, breaks down instruments and equipment, ensures carts are clean, disinfected, and functional, operates and troubleshoots cleaning equipment.
- Instrument Preparation: Recognizes over 2000 instruments and 500 trays, inspects for cleanliness and function, prepares instruments in various containers, monitors devices in each package.
- Sterilization / High-Level Disinfection: Selects appropriate sterilization methods, uses multiple monitoring systems, operates and maintains sterilizers, documents procedures accurately.
- Inventory Control and Distribution: Uses Epic OpTime system, responds to urgent requests, distributes and tracks supplies, communicates supply issues to manager.
- Quality Customer Service: Maintains documentation for biological, chemical controls, testing, and sterilization logs, demonstrates excellent customer service skills, participates in performance improvement activities.
- Financial Accountability: Demonstrates fiscal responsibility, assists with maintaining inventory within budget.
Qualifications
