Sterile Processing Technician

The Opportunity: Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician. You will have the opportunity to expand your skill set, work in a challenging fast-paced environment, and be supported through continuous learning and professional development.

Schedule

Monday-Friday Evening Shift. Weekend rotation and holiday call required.

Responsibilities

• Process, sterilize, and document sterility of instruments used in the surgery department and on-site/off-site clinics in accordance with AORN and AAMI standards.
• Decontaminate and assemble instrument sets and surgery trays using count sheets.
• Verify proper function and integrity of instruments.
• Label instruments correctly and return them to their proper location.
• Communicate effectively and positively with team members and surgery staff.
• Move with a sense of urgency when needed.
• Ensure quality execution of instrumentation directly related to patient safety and department efficiencies.
• Familiar with AAMI, Joint Commission, and APIC standards related to infection control.

Requirements

• 1 year of applicable experience.
• Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) certification - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
• Confidence in your abilities and strong communication skills.
• Ability to embrace new technology and advanced procedures.
• Detail-oriented, process-driven, and understands the importance of patient safety.
• Commitment to putting the patient first and following processes exactly.
