Sterile Processing Technician
Department: Sterile Processing • Location: Joliet, IL • Shift: Full-Time, Evenings (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM); call required
About the role
The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment. Additional duties include inventory management, restocking supplies, computer data entry, and patient charge card batching. The role requires knowledge of all department locations within the facility and the ability to access all departments, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. A detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment is essential.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment
- Manage inventory and restock supplies
- Perform computer data entry and patient charge card batching
- Navigate and access all department locations within the facility
- Maintain detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014)
- At least two (2) years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician (acute care hospital setting preferred)
- Central Supply Certified certification (preferred)
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate
Pay
A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $16.09 to $23.31 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
