Sterile Processing Tech II
About the role
Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is a regional leader in healthcare located in Chicago's western suburbs. The system comprises three hospitals: Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, and MacNeal Hospital, along with various primary care, specialty care, and immediate care facilities.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminates instruments, assembles trays and/or equipment, and sterilizes instrument trays for prescribed patient procedures.
- Assembles case carts for specific surgical procedures.
- Processes a variety of highly specialized surgical instrument trays and powered surgical tools and implant devices, often under time-critical conditions.
- Sterilizes instruments, including quarantining instruments until the biological indicator (BI) is read negative.
- Documents information correctly regarding the BIs and all items in each sterilization load, including peel packs and trays.
- Informs manager, supervisor, or lead when there is a problem with a sterilization load and reprocesses as needed.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma is required.
- Preferred: A High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education.
- Less than one year of previous job-related experience is required.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience.
- Surgical - Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician certification is required.
- On-call is required.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $17.30-$26.81 per hour. Actual compensation will fall within this range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
