Responsibilities

• Prepare and arrange rooms, including organizing instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies based on department needs.
• Clean instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants; operate sterilization equipment according to guidelines.
• Handle inventory by ordering, replenishing, and distributing instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical use.
• Follow strict safety, environmental, and infection control rules to uphold patient care and office standards.
• Share skills with your team by offering in-service training sessions and mentoring entry-level Sterile Processing staff.

Requirements

• Familiarity with equipment and instrument sterilization techniques and procedures
• Understanding of simple medical terminology
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating tact when dealing with patients and colleagues
• Adherence to best practice safety measures, environmental protocols, manufacturers' guidelines, and infection control practices

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of experience
• One of the following certifications:
  • Certified Board Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD)
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
  • Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
