Sterile Processing Services Educator

Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with occasional rotation to evening shifts.

About the role

The Sterile Processing Services Educator manages and organizes all continuing education for the SPS department. Ensures the HHC standardized training program is utilized, documents cadence and attendance, and reports training compliance. Facilitates training classes, observes and educates personnel performing Sterile Processing functions, and runs rigorous training and development programs for new and existing SPS staff. Educates employees on proper infection prevention procedures for decontamination, sterilization, storage, and transportation of equipment, sterile supplies, and instruments/sets across HHC hospitals and surgical centers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma
• 3+ years of experience in sterile processing, with 1+ years of training experience and/or process improvement leadership and implementation
• SPS Certification required
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Maintain a minimum of 10 CEUs per year
• Knowledge of AAMI/JCAHO/AORN regulations
• Understanding of Lean management processes to utilize data for process improvement and create standards
• Demonstrate proficiency in planning and delivering education and training effectively, in compliance with AAMI/JCAHO/AORN regulations and HHC protocols
