Job Summary The Sterile Processing Services Educator manages and organizes all continuing education for the SPS department. Ensures that the HHC standardized training program is utilized. Responsible for documenting cadence and attendance, training compliance reporting, and facilitates training classes. Observes and educates the personnel performing Sterile Processing functions. Runs a rigorous training and development program for new SPS staff, as well as a remediation program for existing staff. Educates employees on proper infection prevention procedures for decontamination, sterilization, storage, transportation of equipment, sterile supplies and instruments/sets utilized across HHC hospitals and surgical centers. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Education High school diploma Experience 3+ years of experience in sterile processing, with 1+ years of training experience and/or process improvement leadership and implementation Licensure, Certification, Registration SPS Certification required Knowledge, Skills And Ability Requirements Ability to lift 40 poundsMaintain a minimum of 10 CEUs per yearKnowledge of AAMI/JCAHO/AORN regulationsUnderstanding of Lean management processes in order to utilize data to drive process improvement and create standardDemonstrate proficiency in planning and delivering education and training effectively, in compliance with AAMI/JCAHO/AORN regulations and HHC protocols.
