STERILE PROCESSING INSTRUMENT TECH (SPD)-NONCERTIFIED

Duties

• Disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble and scan items to be sterilized.
• Correctly package items for sterilization.
• Load sterilizers to ensure sterility.
• Accurately handle, transport and store items to maintain sterilization.
• Maintain sterilization through mechanical, chemical and biological monitoring.
• Provide department-specific assistance from instrument retrieval to storage.
• Retrieve and transport contaminated items safely.
• Follow specific procedures for transporting cleaned items to appropriate storage or further processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Previous experience with surgical instrumentation preferred.
• Obtain CRCST certification from HSPA within 12 months of hire date and recertify annually.
