Sterile Processing Instrument Tech, Full Time (36 hrs)

About the role

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician plays a crucial role in the Decontamination, Processing, and Sterilization process. They ensure all instruments and equipment are free from bioburden, inspect, function test, and assemble them for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization according to manufacturer’s instructions and department policies.

Responsibilities

  • Follows robust processes in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection, and Sterilization
  • Accurately maintains required documentation on written logs and/or computer systems
  • Prioritizes instrumentation for processing
  • Answers telephones and dispatches instrumentation, equipment, and supplies
  • Performs duties consistently with Mercy’s Mission, Values, and Service Standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School degree or GED equivalent
  • Prior healthcare related experience preferred, but not required
  • Basic knowledge of sterilization processes in a clinical setting
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Able to interact with staff and co-workers across a diverse range of disciplines
  • Able to follow directions and operate equipment
