STEM PhD (LATAM)

The Handshake AI Fellowship program is open to exceptional STEM PhDs residing in LATAM. This program brings together subject-matter experts to enhance the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) across specialized scientific and technical domains. The program runs year-round, with project availability varying by discipline.

Qualifications

• Doctoral students and graduates (including those currently enrolled in a PhD program or in postdoctoral positions) in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Engineering.
• Strong written communication skills — ability to translate complex research knowledge into clear, structured task instructions and evaluation criteria.
• Confidence that your domain expertise can outmatch current AI systems in understanding and explaining key concepts in your field.

Work Model and Project Details

• Status: Independent contractor (not a full-time employee role).
• Location: Fully remote.
• Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement. Many contributors work approximately 5–20 hours per week when assigned to an active project.
• Durability: The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with projects opening periodically across different areas of expertise. Placement depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.
