Steelmaking Laborer

Primary Function

Fill absences, temporary vacancies, and provide relief for Melt Shop operations lines of progressions (Melting, Casting, Refractory, and Cranes).

• Radio controlled overhead crane
• Forklift
• Brooms

• Wheelbarrow
• Oxygen carts
• Lances
• Cutting torches
• Jack hammer

Materials

• Aloys
• Lime
• Electrodes
• Bricks
• Gunning material

Source of Supervision

Melt Cast Facilitator and First Helper/First Caster.

Direction Exercised

None

Working Procedure

• Assist Crews as required
• General clean up of Melt Shop as required
• Become proficient in entry level tasks of each line of progression in order to fill vacancies as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 2 years of working in an industrial environment
• Experienced working in extreme weather conditions
• Willing to climb, bend, stand, or lift items
