Steel Mill Outages - Millwright & Industrial

About the role

D7 Pneumatics LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Millwright with strong welding capabilities to join our maintenance division team for scheduled fall shutdowns. The role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing industrial machinery across steel mills, coal mining operations, sawmills, and auto plants. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical systems, a strong understanding of welding techniques, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, safety‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, crushers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other industrial machinery.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding for repairs and fabrication of parts, structures, and equipment.
• Conduct welding inspections to ensure high‑quality, safe work.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new equipment in mining, sawmill, and automotive production lines.
• Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements, maintaining safe and clean work areas.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians, engineers, and management to ensure efficient operations and rapid resolution of mechanical issues.
• Apply strong troubleshooting skills to identify mechanical failures and implement effective solutions.

Requirements

• Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in steel mills, sawmills, and power plants.
• Strong welding experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, with the ability to work with steel, stainless steel, and other materials.
• Deep understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
• Valid driver’s license and Millwright Certification or equivalent trade qualification.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces, high elevations, and extreme temperatures.
• Capability to lift heavy parts and materials as needed.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail and precision.
• Commitment to adhering to all safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in steel mills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.
• Experience in the installation and commissioning of heavy machinery.
