Steel Mill Outages - Millwright & Industrial

About the role

D7 Pneumatics LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Millwright with strong welding capabilities to join the maintenance division team for scheduled fall shutdowns. The role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing industrial machinery across steel mills, coal mining operations, sawmills, and auto plants. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical systems, a strong understanding of welding techniques, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, safety‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, crushers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other industrial machinery in coal mining operations, sawmills, and auto plants.
• Perform welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) for repairs and fabrication of parts, structures, and equipment as needed.
• Conduct welding inspections to ensure high‑quality, safe work.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery and equipment.
• Assist with the installation, alignment, and commissioning of new equipment in mining, sawmill, and automotive production lines.
• Follow all safety protocols and work in compliance with regulatory requirements, ensuring that work areas are always safe and clean.
• Work closely with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and management to ensure efficient operations and quick resolution of mechanical issues.
• Apply strong troubleshooting skills to identify mechanical failures and implement effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in steel mills, sawmills, and power plants.
• Valid driver’s license, Millwright Certification, or equivalent trade qualification required.

Skills

• Strong welding experience, particularly MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, with ability to work with steel, stainless steel, and other materials.
• Deep understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces, high elevations, and extreme temperatures.
• Capable of lifting heavy parts and materials as needed.
