About the role
A challenging opportunity for a performance-driven specialist to source steel for Brose plants and stampers in the USA and Canada, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and source steel for Brose plants and Brose stampers in USA & CAN.
- Manage commercial relationships with steel partners in USA & CAN.
- Set up sourcing files, analyze and negotiate quotes, and present final proposals to decision-makers.
- Finalize agreements, set up award files, and sign LOAs with USA & CAN Shared Service Centers (SSCs).
- Update and validate steel prices in line with supplier index agreements.
- Set up steel pricing sheets and distribute to all stampers and commodity buyers.
- Set up and update steel shipping files to calculate quarterly rebates from all SSCs.
- Obtain credit notes from SSCs and provide rebate allocation to accounting/controlling.
- Maintain and update all steel records as new part numbers are added to the North American steel pool.
- Support project buyers by providing steel prices for target setting processes.
- Gather steel specifications and volumes from project buyers to support new project ramp-ups.
- Onboard new steel suppliers according to AM strategy and processes (e.g., GTCPs).
- Support steel shortages at Brose plants and stampers to avoid customer impact.
- Provide supply chain and commodity buyers with scrap indexes for scrap recovery calculations.
- Perform detailed cost breakdown analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Identify cost reduction projects and support execution of related RACE measures.
- Monitor index trends, market intelligence, and forward-looking outlooks from commodity experts.
- Support annual raw material premise and quarterly forecast updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Business, or Engineering from a four-year college or university.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Analytical skills: index trends and adjustments, cost analysis, demand analysis.
- Data management: attention to detail and proficiency in SAP and Excel.
- Negotiation techniques and supplier relationship management.
- Stakeholder management, project management, and risk management.
- Leadership and assertive communication.
- Basic knowledge of steel grades and properties, stamping processes, and foreign trade concepts (Incoterms, HTS, tariffs, etc.).
