This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
About the role
Join our team to maintain and repair campus steam distribution systems and operate high/low pressure boilers. Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair steam distribution system and related equipment
- Perform steam distribution system maintenance activities
- Operate and maintain high/low pressure steam boilers, related controls, and safety devices
- Perform related work as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma + 1 year of relevant experience, or higher degree
- New Mexico Journeyman Pipe Fitter (JFP) License or ability to obtain the license within one year from date of hire
Working Conditions
- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements: extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, and other potentially dangerous materials/situations
- Considerable physical activity; physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
- Requires heavy physical work: lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations requiring extensive safety precautions and protective equipment
Pay
$16.83 per hour
Schedule
Standard (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM)
