Position Summary We are seeking a Field Service Technical Advisor. The Technical Advisor provides technical guidance and field support in the execution of maintenance, repair, inspection, troubleshooting, commissioning, startup support, and outage projects involving steam turbines, generators, valves, and auxiliary equipment. Working under the guidance of Senior Technical Advisors, Field Engineers, and Project/Site Managers, this role supports equipment inspections, technical evaluations, outage execution, and problem resolution activities at customer sites. The Technical Advisor develops increasing technical expertise through on-the-job experience, field assignments, and customer interaction while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution. This position serves as a foundational Technical Advisor role focused on developing technical competence, customer-facing skills, troubleshooting capabilities, and field leadership experience. Essential Duties Provide technical guidance and support in the execution of outage, maintenance, repair, inspection, commissioning, and field service projects involving power generation equipment.Support disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing activities involving steam turbines, generators, valves, and auxiliary systems.Assist with power generation equipment startup activities as assigned.Support troubleshooting activities involving turbine, generator, valve, and auxiliary equipment systems.Coordinate with Toshiba engineering and design groups under the direction of Project/Site Managers to support technical issue resolution.Perform equipment inspections, technical evaluations, measurements, and field data collection activities.Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, maintenance procedures, and OEM documentation.Provide engineering information and technical observations in response to project and customer requests.Support outage planning activities and gain exposure to outage execution strategy development.Assist with operational troubleshooting and auxiliary system setup activities.Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, field service reports, outage documentation, technical records, and expense reports.Participate in customer meetings, outage briefings, and technical discussions under supervision.Support coordination of assigned labor resources, contractors, and field personnel as directed.Communicate technical observations, identified issues, and project updates to Project/Site Managers and senior field personnel.Monitor compliance with safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, fall protection, and site-specific safety requirements.Demonstrate a Safety Critical Mindset and support a Zero Incident culture.Ensure assigned work is completed in accordance with technical requirements, quality standards, and project objectives.Develop technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, leadership capabilities, and customer service expertise through increasing field responsibility and training. Education And Required Experience Associate degree in a mechanical, industrial, engineering technology, power generation, or related technical discipline.Military technical training in a mechanical, power generation, maintenance, or engineering-related field.Technical school, vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on mechanical training.2–6 years of experience preferred; level and responsibilities may vary based on qualifications and performance.Demonstrated proficiency within Field Service environments.Experience supporting outage execution, maintenance, repair, inspections, troubleshooting activities, or industrial field service operations preferred.Experience working with rotating equipment, power generation systems, mechanical maintenance, or industrial equipment preferred. Certifications and Licenses Valid driver's license required.Certified Steam Turbine or Power Generation Equipment training by Toshiba or equivalent OEM preferred.OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training preferred.First Aid / CPR / AED certification preferred.Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training preferred.Confined Space Awareness training preferred.Fall Protection training preferred. Travel Travel up to 70% of the time to customer sites in support of outages, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and field service activities.Short-notice travel may be required to support emergent customer needs.Extended assignments at project sites, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, may be required.Domestic and occasional international travel may be required. Work Environment Work involves a mix of office, shop, and majority in field environments including shop floors and power generation facilities. Requires sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of equipment. Must be able to navigate stairs, platforms, and confined spaces. Exposure to noise, heat, cold, and industrial hazards is possible. May occasionally work in environments where regulated materials are present, including asbestos-containing materials. All such work is performed in accordance with applicable regulations, site requirements, company procedures, and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
